Dental Implants

Implant surgery replaces tooth roots with titanium, screw-shaped posts, then restores missing or damaged teeth with artificial teeth that look and work like natural ones.
How it works
The implant is fixed into the jawbone where the root of the missing tooth once sat. Over time, bone forms around it, giving a stable base for a crown, bridge or denture.
Suited to
- Missing one or more teeth
- Loose-fitting dentures
- Looking for a fixed alternative to dentures
The procedure
- 1
Preparation
You may be asked not to eat or drink for a few hours beforehand. Wear comfortable clothing and keep brushing as normal.
- 2
Placement
Under anaesthesia, the surgeon opens the gum, prepares the bone and places the implant post deep within it for stability.
- 3
Restoration
Once the bone has integrated with the implant, your crown, bridge or denture is attached.
Expect improved function, a natural look, long-term durability and protection against bone loss. Implants are fixed in place, with no adhesives and no removal at mealtimes.

Questions
Is implant surgery painful?
You'll be under anaesthesia during the procedure. Some swelling and discomfort afterwards is common and managed with prescribed medication.
What is recovery like?
A few days of mild discomfort and swelling. Most patients return to regular activities within a few days to a week.
Can implants replace several teeth?
Yes: single teeth, multiple teeth or a full arch, with implant-supported bridges and dentures.
Can smokers get implants?
Yes, though smoking raises the risk of complications while healing. Reducing or quitting improves the outcome.
